Retirement Ceremony
In honor of

Captain Fanancy L. Anzalone
Medical Corps
United States Navy
March 3, 2006
U. S. Navy Memorial Auditorium
Washington, DC

March 3, 2006

Thank you for being here today as we complete almost twenty-nine years of Naval Service and transition to civilian life. It has been a wonderful experience and has certainly gone by remarkably fast. My wife and I have shared great and challenging times together during these years and have many memories of life in the Navy; exotic places visited, life overseas, cultures experienced, adventures shared, and enduring friendships made. Most importantly, however, has been the satisfaction of serving our nation, the men and women of the Navy-Marine Corps team, the retirees, and their families.

Our future takes us to Miami, Florida where you will find an open door. Please drop by and say hello if you are ever in the South Florida area. We would love to reminisce and swap sea stories (recounting them accurately cannot be guaranteed!). To all of our friends and shipmates, thank you so much for all you have done for us, our family and for all that you do for the men and women of the United States Navy. A heartfelt and most sincere “Fair Winds and Following Seas” to all of you!

The Anzalone Family

Captain Anzalone extends his sincere appreciation to all involved in this ceremony and also for your presence in sharing this day with him and his family. At the conclusion of the ceremony, please join them in the Navy Memorial Presidential Room for a reception. His next assignment will be with American Airlines as the Miami Area Medical Director, Miami International Airport, Miami, FL. Email: fanancy.anzalone@aa.com

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
two roads diverged in a wood, and I –
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
