Friday, November 30th, 2007 ~ Mom Goes To Bikram Yoga This Morning ~ Mom went to Bikram Yoga this morning. It was one of the toughest classes! Mom Heads North To Lake Worth For Hair Appointment ~ Mom went to Lake Worth for her monthly hair appointment with Kerri. She does such a great job! Mom Meets Uncle Johnny & Nana For Nana's Appointment ~ Mom headed south to meet Nana and Uncle Johnny for Nana's appointment at the audiologist. Tania Takes Luca For A Long Walk ~ Mom took Luca for a long walk this afternoon. He got into the grass AGAIN and picked up a thousand more hitch-hikers. Tania picked them off this time. Mom, Dad, Nana, Tania & Tracy Go To Hippotheray Lesson ~ Tracy had her hippotherapy lesson at 5:30 PM this evening. The last time Nana saw Tracy on the horse was on Sanddollar last August. She was really happy to see Tracy back in the saddle on Breezy! Mom, Dad, & Nana Order Chinese Food For Dinner ~ Mom, Dad, and Luca ordered chinese food for dinner and watch The Best Of The Grammy Awards. Mom changed Nana's dressings on her two abrasions and washed and styled her hair! It was nice to finally relax after a very long and busy day! Thursday, November 29th, 2007 ~ Benny Surprises Tiffany With A Beautiful Ring! Congratulations Tiffany & Benny! ~ Mom Stays Home & Works On Paperwork ~ Mom stayed home this morning and caught up on paperwork. Mom Swims Laps At The Club ~ Mom went to the club to swim laps. She swam 10 laps, working her way back to a mile! Argh! Tracy Has Her Last Speech Therapy Session At Nova Southeastern University With Nadia ~ Tracy had her last Speech Therapy session with Nadia this afternoon. We are so excited that Tracy will have Nadia again next semester! Today, Nadia began her session with the decision board. She had three choices for Tracy to choose from: Do Fashion/Christmas; Do Talking; and Do Jewelry. Tracy selected Fashion/Christmas with two eye blinks for Yes! Nadia had pictures on the computer of celebrities wearing different holiday styles. She asked Tracy which of the three styles on the screen that she liked. After fashion, Nadia showed Tracy pictures of jewelry on the computer. She asked Tracy which earrings would she wear with the bracelet or necklace she had on the screen. Tracy loves looking at fashion and jewelry. Next, it was time to work on talking. Nadia recorded some phrases on the Step by Step sequential switch for Tracy to activate with her head switch. This facilitates conversation. Tracy was very vocal and tried hard to say No and Ahh-haa. She made some very good sounds and moved her tongue to the roof of her mouth! Dee Comes To Give Tracy A Massage ~ Tracy got a much-needed massage this evening with Dee. He worked through all of her muscles, massaging, stretching, and putting them through an entire range of motion. Mom Takes Luca For A Long Walk ~ Mom took Luca for a long walk this evening. He got into the grass and picked up a thousand hitch-hikers. Dad had to pick them all out! It took hours! Wednesday, November 28th, 2007 ~ Benny Surprises Tiffany With A Beautiful Ring! Congratulations Tiffany & Benny! ~ Tracy Vomits 2 Ounces At 7 AM ~ Tracy vomited about two ounces this morning at 7 AM. Her latest x-ray showed that she has a mild to moderate ileus. The gastroenterologist recommended that we double her dose of Miralax and also give her probiotics. Mom Goes To Bikram Yoga This Morning ~ Mom made it to the 9:15 AM Bikram Yoga class in Lighthouse Pont. It was a good class; superhot! Tracy Gets A Manicure ~ Felicia gave Tracy a manicure this afternoon. This week's hue is Mauving To Manitoba! Oh so pretty! Mom Goes To The Chiropracter This Morning ~ Mom went to the Dr. Colavito this morning for e-stim, heat and an adjustment. Her neck and lower back were out of alignment. It feels a lot better now. Mom Goes To Get A Massage ~ Mom went to Fern for a massage this aftenoon. Fern said that her back, neck and shoulders were really tight. It sure felt better when she was done. Tracy Has Her Last Speech Therapy Session At Florida Atlantic University With Kristin ~ Tracy had her last Speech Therapy session with Kristin this afternoon. Kristin is going to do an externship next semester. She has worked with Tracy for three semesters, and has done an excellent job! We are sure going to miss her. We were blessed to meet Tracy's student clinician for next semester: Melissa! We can't wait to get to know her and are all looking forward to her working with Tracy next semester! Today, Kristin spent the session orienting Melissa to Tracy's laptop and her powerpoint presentations. First, Kristin showed Tracy her pictures from her birthday dinner and Butterfly World. She asked Tracy some Yes/No questions about the pictures and prompted Tracy to hit her switch to advance the slides. Her head control has really improved this semester. She has also become more accurate with her two eye blinks for Yes and her head shakes for No. Today, she was using her voice for Ahh-haa, and was very vocal throughout her session. Then it was time to look at some pictures of what else: cute guys! Kristin showed Tracy a picture of Jonah Hill and one of Matt Damon. She asked Tracy which guy she thought was cute. You would not believe it! Tracy picked Jonah Hill! Not her type, we think she was pulling Kristin's leg! Maybe Tracy's tastes have changed and she is going for the funnier type these days! Mom, Tracy & Tania Make A Quick Trip To The Town Center Mall ~ Mom, Tracy and Tania went to the Town Center Mall after Speech Therapy. They hit the Bath and Body Works store to pick up some goodies for Tracy. Mom, Tracy & Tania Visit Nana After Speech Therapy ~ Mom checked on Nana's bruises which are healing well. She did a quick dressing change on both of them, washed and styled Nana's hair. Nana really was happy that we came by to see her. It is so nice to live close by family these days! Mom, Dad, Tracy & Luca Watch Cane & Grey's Anatomy This Evening ~ Mom, Dad, Tracy and Luca watched this week's episode of Cane from Tuesday evening. It is a really good series! Congratulations Tiffany & Benny! ~ Mom Goes To Bikram Yoga This Morning ~ Mom made it to the 9:15 AM Bikram Yoga class in Lighthouse Pont. It had been two days since her last class and boy could she feel it! It was a good class, with lots of dry heat. Mom Runs Errands ~ Mom ran around Lighthouse Point, making her rounds to Walgreens, the cleaners, etc. It was a beautiful sunny day with low humidity! Tracy Gets A Pedicure ~ Felicia gave Tracy a pedicure this morning. She decided to go with clear nail polish this time to give Tracy a break from the colored polish. Tracy, Tania, Felicia & Luca Watch Destination Dublin On The Travel Channel ~ We all know how much our girl loves to travel. Tracy and Tania watched a beautiful account of Dublin this afternoon. Tania Works On Tracy's Neck Strengthening Exercises ~ Tania worked with Tracy on her neck strengthening exercises for thirty minutes this afternoon. Dee Comes To Give Tracy A Massage & Physical Therapy ~ Dee came to do Physical Therapy with Tracy and to give her a massage. Everyone was happy to see him, especially Tracy. It had been several weeks since he was here. First, Tania and Dee got Tracy prone over the peanut on her knees for weight-bearing! Tracy tolerated 30 minutes in this position. Next, Dee and Tania got Tracy in long sitting on the mat to work on head and trunk control. Dee positioned Tracy hands on the mat so that she could bear weight through her shoulders. While in this position, Dee did some vestibular exercises to help with proprioception. Tracy tolerated about 20 minutes in this position. Then it was time for her massage. Tracy really likes Dee's massages. He works every muscle and joint through full range of motion, paying close attention to her hips, shoulders, neck, feet, ankles, hamstrings, quads, etc. He is another one of Tracy's special angels. Dad Goes To Bikram Yoga This Evening ~ Dad went to the 6:30 PM Bikram Yoga class this evening. He really enjoys his practice. Mom, Dad, Tracy & Luca Watch Dancing With The Stars: The Finale This Evening ~ Mom, Dad, Tracy and Luca watched Helio and Julianne take home the trophy in the Finale this evening. Monday, November 26th, 2007 ~ Benny Surprised Tiffany With A Phenomenal Ring! Congratulations Tiffany & Benny! ~ Benny Surprises Tiffany With A Beautiful Engagement Ring ~ Tiffany and Benny left at 4:45 AM for the airport to catch their return flights to DC and LAX. Benny is heading west to visit his family in California before moving to his next duty station: HAWAII! Tiffany returned to DC and work at the Navy League of the US. Mom and Dad were surprised to find out that Benny had surprised Tiffany with a beautiful engagement ring! We love Benny and are so happy for the both of them! We'll keep you posted! Mamaw & Papaw Head Back To Independence ~ Dad took Mamaw and Papaw to the Miami International Airport to catch a flight back to New Orleans this morning. Tania Massages & Stretches Tracy's Hands & Wrists ~ Tania massaged and ranged Tracy's hands and wrists with grapefruit scented lotion. She does such a good job with Tracy and is one of Tracy's angels! Nana & Uncle Johnny Come Over ~ Nana and Uncle Johnny came over for a visit this afternoon. Uncle Johnny and Mom went to the Lighthouse Point Yacht and Racquet Club to swim laps. The water was nice and warm. They swam about thirty minutes, then went for a long walk around the neighborhood. Sunday, November 25th, 2007 ~ Mom, Dad, Tiffany, Benny, Nana, Aunt Diane, Mamaw & Papaw Go To 12 Noon Mass In Pahokee With Father , Uncle, Brother John ~ The gang caravanned to St. Mary's Church in Pahokee, where Uncle Johnny said Mass. It was a beautiful Mass in celebration of the feast of Christ the King. Everyone had a delicious lunch prepared by the parishioners after Mass. It was the first time that Mamaw and Papaw had visited the beautiful Icon in the little chapel in Pahokee. Everyone Decorates The Christmas Tree ~ Everyone enjoyed decorating the Christmas tree when we returned from Pahokee. It was so much fun to rediscover all of the pretty ornaments collected throughout the years. There were many made by hand by Tiffany and Tracy when they were little. It was so much fun to have family together to decorate the tree and reminisce of so many wonderful memories. Mom, Dad, Benny, Tiffany & Aunt Diane Cook Dinner ~ Mom baked rosemary potatoes, Dad and Benny grilled petite bacon wrapped filet mignons, while Aunt Diane made a fresh garden salad and Tiffany baked ziti. It was really a phenomenal dinner, and everyone enjoyed it. Mom, Tiffany, & Benny Go In The Hot Tub ~ Mom, Tiffany and Benny enjoyed the hot tub and the beautiful full moon over the water, while Dad, Tracy, Mamaw and Papaw watched the New England Patriots beat the Philadelphia Eagles! Saturday, November 25th, 2007 ~ Mom & Dad Go To Bikram Yoga This Morning ~ Mom and Dad went to Bikram Yoga this morning. It was a really good class, taught by Stacy, a brand new instuctor just back from her 9-week training certification in Hawaii! She did a great job! Mom, Tiffany & Benny Go Back To Palm Beach To Shop ~ Benny liked Palm Beach so much that they went back again on Saturday! It was a beautiful day with temperatures in the low 80s! Benny & Dad Put Up The Decorations Outside Christmas Decorations ~ Benny and Dad put up the outside Christmas decorations! They did a great job and everything looks so pretty! Everyone Eats Leftovers & Watch College Football ~ Everyone ate leftovers for dinner and watched college football games with high hope that LSU still has a chance for a shot at the National Championship! Friday, November 24th, 2007 ~ Mom, Benny & Tiffany Leave Bright & Early To Meet Uncle Johnny In Palm Beach ~ Mom, Tiffany and Benny headed to Palm Beach bright and early to meet Uncle Johnny for a tour around Palm Beach! They saw all the sights; the beach, Worth Avenue, and had lunch at Taboo! It was so much fun and everyone had a great time! The weather was beautiful and it was fun seeing all of the pretty Christmas and Hannukah decorations! Tiffany went to her favorite boutique, The Eye of the Needle! Tracy hung out with Mamaw, Papaw, Dad and Felicia and watched more college football games! Everyone Watches The LSU Tigers Lose To The Arkansas Razorbacks In The Third Overtime ~ Everyone was so disappointed (devastated is more like it) when LSU was defeated by the Razorbacks in the third overtime! No one can dispute that there were several bad calls made against the LSU Tigers! There is a very slim but possible chance that the Tigers could be back in the running if several teams lose this week! Keep your fingers crossed! Thursday, November 22nd, 2007 ~ Happy Thanksgiving! ~ Mom, Dad, Tiffany & Benny Cook Up A Feast ~ Tiffany and Benny were the "real" cooks in the kitchen today as they chopped and peeled, whipped and sauteed all of the turkey fixings for dinner. Tiffany made Mamaw's famous cornbread dressing while Benny whipped up some delicious mashed (or as Tiffany and Tracy used to call them) "smashed" potatoes! Dad cooked two turkeys, a Cajun style turkey and a traditional roasted turkey. Nana brought eggplant, and Anita brought a delicious pumpkin pie and creamy carrot cake! Tiffany made her crunchy sweet potatoes, which are always yummy with mini marshmellows on top! Everybody had a great time! It is so nice to have family close by! We sure do miss all y'all who live away in various exotic places as Merrimack, NH, Independence, Louisiana, and Alpharetta, Georgia! Tracy Hangs Out & Enjoys All Of The Activity & Smells In The Kitchen ~ Tracy hung out and enjoyed all of the clatter and aromas from the kitchen. She really is enjoying having her sister, Benny, and Mamaw and Papaw at home! Anita Brought An Adorable Turkey Apron For The Chef ~ Everyone took turns wearing the adorable Thanksgiving turkey apron that Anita brought! So cute! It's Football, Football, Football ~ Everyone is overdosing on football this long weekend as we come into the final stretch of college football. Everyone is pulling for the LSU Tigers, who play tomorrow afternoon! Geaux Tigers! Nana was able to see her Dancing With The Stars: The Results, in between football games! Thank goodness for tivoe. Tracy Goes To Speech Therapy With Kristin At FAU ~ Tiffany and Benny accompanied Tracy, Tania, Mom, and Luca to Speech Therapy with Kristin at FAU this afternoon. Kristin hooked up Tracy's laptop and switches and they watched her powerpoint slideshow on Fall. Krsitin asked Tracy her Yes/No questions about the various pictures. Then it was time to look at pictures that Kristin cut out of magazines. She showed Tracy pictures which compared and contrasted the two upcoming holidays: Christmas and Thanksgiving. There were pictures of snowmen, beautifully decorated Christmas trees, Thanksgiving turkeys with all of the trimmings, etc. Kristin asked Tracy to vocalize AHA for Yes, in place of eye blinks and head shakes for No, in response to her Yes/No questions about the pictures. Tracy was awake and alert throughout the session. Tania Does Tracy's Neck Exercises With Her ~ Tania spent some time working on Tracy's neck strengthening exercises this afternoon. She also massaged Tracy's hands with lotion and did her wrist and finger range of motion with her. Mamaw & Papaw Arrive Safely From Louisiana This Evening ~ Mamaw and Papaw arrived safely from Louisiana this evening. Aunt Diane and Nana came over and everyone enjoyed baked ziti and salad with garlic bread for dinner. Mamaw brought Tracy a beautiful amber and natural stone necklace. It is so pretty! Everyone Watches Deal Or No Deal ~ Everyone relaxed and watched Deal Or No Deal while they enjoyed dessert and coffee this evening. It is so nice to have family visiting for the holidays! Tuesday, November 20th, 2007 ~ Happy Birthday Uncle Johnny! ~ Mom Goes To Fr. Chepanis' Funeral With Nana & Uncle Johnny ~ Mom went to a good friend of the family's, Father Chepanis' funeral, this morning. She met Nana there! Uncle Johnny concelebrated with the Bishop of Palm Beach and many other priests. He was a remarkable man and servant of God. Felicia Gives Tracy A Manicure & A Pedicure ~ Felicia gave Tracy a manicure and a pedicure this morning. Tracy picked a bright red color this week! So hot! Tracy Goes To A New Gastroenterologist In Coral Springs ~ Tracy had an appointment with Dr. Zingaro in Coral Springs at 1:30 this afternoon to address her vomiting. She has been vomiting off and on for the past year with mnimal relief. Dr. Zingaro was extremely thorough and spent a long time with Tracy and Mom going over all of her medications, diet, nutritionals, etc. He ordered several blood tests, including a special test that analyzes Tracy's vitamin and mineral status. He also did some routine blood chemistries, complete blood count, and an abdominal x-ray. We will keep you posted. Tracy Goes To The Medical Center To Get Lab Drawn & Abdomial X-rays ~ Tracy had her blood drawn at the Coral Springs Medical Center. The staff were very efficient, caring and took good care of Tracy. Next, she got an abdominal x-ray. Dr. Zingaro called Dad as soon as he received the results of the x-ray. It seems Tracy's colon is distended, which may be contributing to her vomiting. We plan to see the dietitian when we receive the results of her blood tests. Tiffany & Benny Arrive ~ Tiffany and Benny arrived safely this afternoon. It is so good to have them here for the holidays! Mom ordered burgers, baby back ribs and ahi seared tuna from Bonefish Mac's for dinner. It was so good! Dad Goes To Bikram Yoga ~ Dad went to Bikram Yoga this evening. He is so dedicated to his practice! Tracy Goes To Speech Therapy With Kristin At FAU ~ Tracy had Speech Therapy with Kristin at FAU this afternoon. Kristin hooked up Tracy's laptop and switches and they watched her powerpoint slideshow on Fall. Krsitin asked Tracy her Yes/No questions about the various pictures. She also massaged Tracy's hands with lotion and did her wrist and finger range of motion with her. Tracy Relaxes On The CPM Machine ~ Tracy relaxed on the CPM machine to range her hips and hamstrings. She tolerated two hours on her right leg and one and a half on her left leg. Mom, Dad, Tracy & Luca Watch Dancing With The Stars ~ Everyone watched Dancing With The Stars this evenng. It was one of the best shows ever! So many perfect scores! Sunday, November 18th, 2007 ~ Tracy Vomits 10 To 12 Ounces This Morning ~ Tracy vomited ten to twelve ounces this morning before her hippotherapy lesson. Tracy Goes To Hippotherapy Lesson ~ Tracy had her fourth hippotherapy lesson on Breezy this morning at 10:00 AM. Breezy is really holding her own and doing a great job as a therapy horse. Tracy really enjoys hippotherapy and is truly back in the saddle again! Breezy really looks forward to the apples Mom brings to reward her for her hard work with Tracy! Nana & Aunt Diane Come Over For The Day ~ Nana and Aunt Diane came over for the day. It was not a day for sitting by the pool or going in the hot tub. The weather was cool, overcast and breezy. Mom and Dad took advantage of the weather and got a lot of errands done around the house. Dad picked up the Cajun Turkey, roasted Turkey, Honey Baked Ham, etc. to avoid the last minute shopping madness! Everyone Got Their Cars Detailed This Afternoon ~ Greg came by and detailed everyone's car this afternoon. They are nice and clean and ready for the holiday visitors. Mom Makes Italian Sausage, Peppers & Onions For Dinner ~ Mom made Italian sausage, peppers and onions for dinner this evening. Aunt Diane made a Caesar salad and Dad made Red Beans and Rice. It was really good. Saturday, November 17th, 2007 ~ Mom & Dad Go To Bikram Yoga ~ Mom and Dad went to Bikram Yoga this morning . It was a really nice class with lots of focused energy! Mom & Dad Run Errands ~ Mom and Dad ran errands this afternoon, in an effort to get ready for holiday guests. They got everything done before the LSU vs. Ole Miss game. Geaux Tigers! LSU Beats Ole Miss To Maintain Their Number One Ranking ~ LSU beat Ole Miss to maintain their first place ranking in the BCS polls! Mom, Dad, Tracy & Luca Watch Boston College Beat Clemson ~ Mom was a happy camper when Tiffany and her alma mater, Boston College (now ranked 17) beat number 15 ranked Clemson for the ACC East Coast Division championship! Our good friends Kate and Donna, who were rooting for the Clemson Tigers will sure be disappointed! Friday, November 16th, 2007 ~ Mom Goes To Bikram Yoga This Morning ~ Mom went to Bikram Yoga this morning. It was a NICE temperature for a change. Not too hot! Perfect! Mom Goes To The Chiropractor This Morning ~ Mom had an appointment with Dr. Colavito at 11:30 AM for heat, e-stim, and adjustment. He adjusted Mom's neck, which was out of alignment. It really makes a difference and feels a lot better.Tania Works With Tracy On Neck Stretches & Head Control ~ Tania worked with Tracy on her neck stretches to improve her range of motion and head control. She also massaged her neck, shoulders, and pectoral muscles which are very tight. Mom Goes To Get A Manicure ~ Mom went to get a manicure this afternoon.. She was overdue! Tracy Goes To Hippotherapy With Breezy This Evening ~ Tracy had a 5:30 Hippotherapy session this evening with Susan on Breezy. Breezy has really bonded with Tracy and is especially appreciative of the apples that Mom brings her! After her session, Mom and Tania helped Tracy feed Breezy the apples. She did such a good job this evening that she was rewarded with two apples. It is so beautiful in Parkland where Tracy rides, especially at 5:30 PM! We are all able to enjoy the sunset over the sugar cane fields while Tracy rides at dusk. It is pitch black when she is finished her lesson! Thursday, November 15th, 2007 ~ Mom Goes To Bikram Yoga This Morning ~ Mom went to Bikram Yoga this morning. It was a very hard class: very, very hot! Argh! Mom Goes To Nana's To Help With A Few Errands ~ Mom went to Nana's this afternoon to help her with a few errands. It is so nice to live so close to family! Mom, Tania, Tracy, & Luca Go To Speech Therapy At NSU With Nadia ~ Tracy had Speech Therapy with Nadia this afternoon at NSU at 3 PM. Nadia began her session with Tracy making vowel sounds, essentially mimicking Nadia's sounds: AH, EE, OH, EU! Tracy tries very hard during Speech Therapy. Next, Nadia and Tracy looked at pictures of celebrities on the computer. Nadia asked Tracy to look at the photo of the various celebrities that she liked best. There were pictures of Ashley Simpson, Carmen Electra, etc. with two different hair colors, styles, etc. and Tracy had to pick the one that she preferred. Next, Nadia and Tracy looked at a Powerpoint presentation that Nadia created on Thanksgiving. Tracy was very alert and attentive throughout the session. Aunt Diane Comes By With Food From Her Holiday Party ~ Aunt Diane brought us some goodies from her holiday party this afternoon. Umm Good! Tania Massages Tracy's Feet With Cocoa Butter ~ Tania massaged Tracy's feet and legs with cocoa butter this afternoon when she returned from Speech Therapy. Tania does such a good job caring for Tracy! Tracy Does Not Have Physical Therapy & A Massage With Dee ~ Tracy did not have physical therapy and her massage with Dee this afternoon because Dee is out of town! Wednesday, November 14th, 2007 ~ Tracy Has An Appointment With The Neurologist At The Cleveland Clinic For Baclofen Pump Refill & Adjustment ~ Tracy had an appointment with Dr, Galvez at the Cleveland Clinic this afternoon to get her baclofen pump refilled. He also lowered her daily dose to 108 micrograms per day! Tracy Has Speech Therapy With Kristin At FAU ~ Tracy had Speech Therapy with Kristin at Florida Atlantic University this afternoon at 3 PM. Kristin spent some time with Tracy looking at pictures of jewelry: watches, rings, and necklaces. Tracy really loves jewelry! What girl doesn't? Then it was time to look at celebrity pictures. Tracy had to decide between photos of McDreamy (Patrick Dempsey) and Johnny Depp. It looked like she liked both, but she actually looked like she picked Johnny Depp. The hour flew by so fast that they didn't have time to listen to music on Tracy's Ipod! Tania Does Tracy's Eyebrows ~ Tania did Tracy's eyebrows this afternoon. She does such a great job with them. Tracy does not enjoy getting her eyebrows waxed/tweezed! Can you blame her? Tuesday, November 13th, 2007 ~ Mom, Tania & Tracy Go To The Neurologist In Miami ~ Tracy got almost 800 units of Botox this morning in her wrists, hands, fingers, jaw and temples. The Botox helps relax Tracy's fingers, wrists, and hands so that we can open her hands to put her splints on. The Botox in her jaw and temples helps relax Tracy's massiters which in turn decrease Tracy's grinding. Dr. Rubin gave Tracy over 30 injections! Our girl sure is brave! Dad Leaves For A Meeting In Washington, DC ~ Dad left this afternoon for an AsMA executive council meeting in Washington, DC. He will be back tomorrow evening. Tania is planning on staying with Mom, Tracy and Luca! Kristin took advantage of the long weekend and went to visit her family in Chicago. We hope she is staying warm in the windy city! Mom & The Gang Do Not Go To Spinning ~ Spinning was also cancelled this evening! Mom really misses her Spinning classes! She will have to make it up later this week! Tracy Spent Two Hours Ranging Her Right Hamstring & Hip On The CPM ~ Tracy spent about two hours ranging her right hamstring and hip on the CPM machine. While her right leg was in the CPM, Tania put her Dynasplint on her left ankle to help with stretch and range of motion. Sunday, November 11th, 2007 ~ Happy Anniversary Aunt Cheryl & Uncle Mike ~ Mom, Dad, Tracy, & Nathley Go To Hippotherapy At 10 AM ~ Tracy had another hippotherapy session with Susan on Breezy this morning. She did a good job with her head and trunk control and seemed much more comfortable back in the saddle again. Tracy and Breezy sure did hit it off and are now becoming good friends. Mom brought Breezy an apple, which she enjoyed after her lesson! Nana & Aunt Diane Come Over For The Day ~ Nana and Aunt Diane came over to spend the day with us. It was a beautiful day with low humidity and mild temperatures. Mom, Dad and Aunt Diane went into the hot tub for a soak. Later in the day, Uncle Johnny joined us for dinner. Friday, November 9th, 2007 ~ Mom Picks Up Nana Bright & Early & Goes To A Funeral In Palm Beach ~ Mom and Nana went to a friend of the family's funeral this morning at St. Edwards Church in Palm Beach. It had been more than a year since they were in St. Edwards Church. Palm Beach is still as beautiful as ever! Mom, Nana & Uncle Johnny Have Lunch At The Grotto ~ After the funeral, Mom, Nana and Uncle Johnny had lunch at The Grotto Cafe in Palm Beach. Felicia Gives Tracy A Manicure ~ Felicia gave Tracy a manicure this morning. Her nails are now an irridescent purple! Oh so pretty! Tania Reads From Letters To Sam To Tracy On The Patio ~ It was a beautiful Fall day in South Florida with temperatures in the seventies and low humidity. Tania read to Tracy from the book: Letters To Sam outside on the patio! It is a grandfather's account of life to his autistic grandson. A very touching story! Tracy's Room Is Painted A Beautiful Green ~ Tracy's room is painted a beautiful Clary Sage! It really came out nice. Mom is trying to get everything finished around the house by Thanksgiving! Tracy Goes To Her First Hippotherapy Session With Breezy ~ Tracy had her first hippotherapy session on Breezy this afternoon. Breezy was so good and she and Tracy bonded immediately. Susan had Breezy sniff around Tracy's wheel chair so that she would not be frightened by it. Breezy was very patient while Dad and Tania transferred Tracy. Tracy seemed a little nervous at first but settled in right away. They are both looking forward to a growing friendship together! Thursday, November 8th, 2007 ~ Mom Goes To Get The Van Serviced ~ Mom went to get the van lean serviced this morning at 8:30 AM. It had gotten stuck in the lean position last week and the mechanic disconnected it until they could repair it today. The Painters Come To Paint Tracy's Room ~ The painters came to paint Tracy's room. They are also doing some touching up around the house, both inside and out. They are really trying hard to finish everything up by Thanksgiving! Mom Goes To Pick Up Nana ~ Mom went to pick up Nana to stay at the house while she takes Tracy to Speech Therapy at NSU. It is so nice to have family so close by! Tracy Goes To Speech Therapy At NSU ~ Tracy had Speech Therapy with Nadia this afternoon at 3 PM at Nova Southeastern University in Davie. First, Nadia used Tracy's word board to determine Tracy's preferences for today's session. She selected Halloween pictures so Nadia fired up the computer and they viewed a Halloween powerpoint slide show specially created by Nadia. It was really cute, with various photos of both celebrities and pets dressed in Halloween costumes. The pet costumes were really clever, with some dressed as Superman and Wonderwoman! Then it was time to look at pictures of jewelry, which is Tracy's favorite. Nadia had pictures of beautiful gold and silver necklaces, bracelets and rings. Dr. Lowe brought in a collection of her mother's costume jewelry for Tracy to try on. She put a beautiful pink jeweled bracelet on Tracy wrist! It looked really nice! Last, Nadia and Tracy practiced making sounds and using her Step By Step switch to "talk". Nadia records some phrases on the switch for Tracy to initiate with her head switches. Nadia recorded some discussion about Tracy's newly painted room! Nadia does a wonderful job with Tracy's Speech Therapy sessions. She is very creative, especially with the computer! Tracy Has A Massage With Dee ~ When we returned from Speech Therapy, Tracy had a massage with Dee. She did not seem to be into her massage today, and after about an hour or so, she let Dee know that she had had enough! She started to grind her teeth and even began to cry! Dee and Tania both decided that Tracy had had enough for one day! Mom, Dad, Tracy & Luca Watch Grey's Anatomy This Evening ~ Mom, Dad, Tracy and Luca watched this evening's episode of Grey's Anatomy this evening. It was another good episode! Hippotherapy Update ~ Kathi and Susan are working with a new horse, Breezy, who is 14.2 hands tall; perfect for Tracy. She has done so well with her training that she is ready for Tracy to ride her. Tracy will resume her hippotherapy lessons tomorrow evening at 5:30 PM, and again on Sunday morning, at 10:00 AM. She is ready to get back in the saddle again! Wednesday, November 7th, 2007 ~ Mom Goes To Bikram Yoga ~ Mom went to Bikram Yoga this morning. It was ANOTHER very challenging class. Bikram says "Yoga never gets easier, just better!" Argh! Mom Goes To The Chiropracter ~ Mom had an 11:30 AM appointment with Dr. Colavito this morning. He is very pleased with Mom's alignment and made some adjustments to her neck and shoulders where she has been tight. The heat and E-stim really helps with Mom's tension in her neck, shoulders, and lower back. She feels so much better! Mom Goes To Nana's To Run An Errand ~ Mom drove to Nana's to help her with an errand. It is so nice to live close by to family! Tracy Goes To Speech Therapy At FAU ~ Tracy had Speech Therapy with Kristin at 3 PM at FAU. Luca accompanied Tracy, Tania and Mom. He is learning to behave during Tracy's therapy sessions. Everyone knows him at FAU. Many of the students have watched him grow up from a little puppy to the therapy dog in the making! Kristin set up Tracy's switches and lap top and they viewed Tracy's Powerpoint presentation on Summer and Fall that Nadia made for Tracy. Kristin asked Tracy some Yes/No questions about the pictures. Tracy used her two eye blinks for Yes and head shakes for No. Then Kristin showed Tracy pictures of bridesmaid dresses that she cut out of Brides magazine. Tracy liked the Tiffany blue colored gowns. Next, Kristin showed Tracy some pictures out of the Bal Harbour magazine that Mom brought her. Dad & Mom Prepare Tracy's Room To Be Painted ~ Dad and Mom spent this evening preparing Tracy's room for the painters. They plan to spend tomorrow painting Tracy's room a beautiful Sage Green! Tracy's room will soon be finished and ready for Tracy to move in! We know she is really looking forward to having her own room again. Tuesday, November 6th, 2007 ~ Mom Goes To Bikram Yoga ~ Mom went to Bikram Yoga this morning. It was another very challenging class. Bikram says "Yoga never gets easier, just better!" Tracy Goes To The Dermatologist ~ Tracy had an appoitment with the dermatologist this morning. The Proactiv just doesn't seem to be doing the trick any more. First, Tracy got a facial by the esthetician who steamed Tracy's face, applied a masque, and cleansed her pores. Mom bought a Clarisonic MD, ultrasonic cleaner for Tracy's face. Mom can't wait to try it out on Tracy! She bought the Pink Clarisonic, which donates a portion to support breast cancer awareness. Dee Comes To Do Physical Therapy With Tracy & Give Her A Massage ~ Dee came to work with Tracy on the therapy mat and to give her a massage. First, Dee and Tania got Tracy straddled on the peanut so that Dee could work on Tracy's head and trunk control. Next, Dee, Tania and Felicia got Tracy positioned on her knees over the peanut ball for weight bearing through her hips. While in this position, Dee rocked Tracy back and forth to assist with proprioception. Tracy tolerated 28 minutes in this position! She is really improving! Then it was time for Tracy's massage. Dee and Tania transferred Tracy to the massage table and Dee stretched and ranged Tracy's upper and lower extremities, specifically working her hamstrings, hips, shoulders, biceps, triceps, trapezius, feet and ankles. Tracy really loves her massages and Dee does an awesome job! Mom Takes Luca For A Walk ~ Mom took Luca for a walk this afternoon. He has picked up a bad habit of charging after cars while on his leash. Must be time for the adolescent years! Boot camp here we come! Dad Goes To Bikram Yoga ~ Dad went to Bikram Yoga this evening. He is really enjoying his practice and it shows! Monday, November 5th, 2007 ~ Mom Goes To Bikram Yoga ~ Mom went to 9:15 AM Bikram Yoga this morning. It was a great class! Tracy Has Speech Therapy With Kristin At FAU ~ Tracy had Speech Therapy with Kristin at FAU at 2 PM this afternoon. Kristin began by setting up Tracy switches and lap top and they looked at the Summer vs Fall Powerpoint presentation that Nadia created for Tracy. Kristin asked Tracy Yes/No questions from the various pictures, using two eye blinks for Yes and head shakes for No. She is doing so much better with her eye blinks and head shakes. Kristin encouraged Tracy to use her voice for Yes, vocalizing Ah-Haa. Tracy was vocalizing a lot today. She mimicked several Ah-haas and tried an Uh-Ha, which is much harder to vocalize. Then it was time to look at some pictures of the latest fashion which Kristin cut out from magazines. Kristin put up pictures of models wearing Fall and Winter clothing and compared them to pictures of models wearing summer clothing. Tracy was awake, alert, and engaged throughout the session. She has done so well with her training that she is ready for Tracy to ride her. Tracy will resume her hippotherapy lessons this Friday, November 9th at 5:30 PM, and again on Sunday morning, at 10:00 AM. She is ready to get back in the saddle again! Sunday, November 4th, 2007 ~ Mom, Dad, Tracy, Joan, & Luca Head Outside To Catch Some Rays ~ Tracy, Joan, Mom, Dad, and Luca headed outside to enjoy the beautiful cool weather. It was a sunny day with low humidity, perfect for hanging out by the pool. Nana & Aunt Diane Arrive For The Day ~ Nana and Aunt Diane came over to spend the day with us. They also enjoyed being outside and relaxing in the hot tub. Everyone really appreciated the extra hour which came with the time change. Dad changed all of the clocks throughout the house this morning, even the ones that required the tall ladder! Uncle Johnny Is On His Way Back From New Hampshire ~ Uncle Johnny is returning from New Hampshire where he attended cousin Mike's confirmation yesterday morning. Everyone congratulates Mike on his confirmation and wishes they could have been there to share in his special day! Tiffany Returns From A Navy League Conference In Palm Springs, California ~ Tiffany returned safely this evening from Palm Springs where she was attending a conference for the Navy League. We are all very proud of her! Everyone Roots For The Patriots ~ The Patriots beat the Colts this afternoon, after what looked to be a close call! We are so glad that they managed to pull through and maintain their perfect season! Go PATS! It is a great show and one of Mom's favorite! She can really identify with Nora (Sally Fields) on the show! Tracy Vomits 8 To 10 Ounces ~ Tracy vomited about 8 to 10 ounces this morning. Mom & Dad Go To The Sherwin Williams Store To Look For Paint ~ Mom and Dad spent about 3 hours in the paint store this afternoon, looking for paint for the house. They need to touch up some areas that were modified to improve the accessibility for Tracy. Mom never realized there are so many different colors of paint! Tracy, Mom, Dad, Nana & Tania Go To The Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony Concert In Miami ~ Mom, Dad, Tracy, Nana, and Tania went to the J-Lo/Marc Anthony Concert at the American Airlines Arena in Miami this evening. It was really LOUD and the venue did not have very good acoustics! Tracy Vomits Four To Six Ounces On The Way Home From The Concert ~ Tracy vomited about four to six ounces on the way home from the concert this evening. Friday, November 2nd, 2007 ~ Mom Goes To Lake Worth For A Hair Appointment ~ Mom had a hair appointment in Lake Worth this morning. It is a hike, but Kerri, her hair stylist, is the best! Luca Gets A Haircut ~ Luca got groomed this afternoon! He had some matted fur under his arms from his life jacket (velcro) so they decided to shave him! Argh! Mom was not very happy! All his fur is gone! He still looks cute and Mom knows it will grow back in no time! It is just a shock! He looks like a Marine! Mom Makes Pasta Fagioli Soup For Dinner ~ Mom made some pasta fagioli and white bean tuscan soup for dinner this evening. Thursday, November 1st, 2007 ~ Mom Goes For A Walk & To The Yacht Club To Swim Laps ~ Mom went for an hour walk around Lighthouse Point and then to the yacht club to swim laps. It felt great to crosstrain, even though there is Tropical Storm Noel lurking around south Florida! Mom Had To Cancel Speech Therapy At NSU Due To Van Problems ~ The van was giving Mom and Tania problems this afternoon. It was leaning to the right (the kneel feature was stuck) and hitting bottom every time we hit a bump. Mom had to contact Ocean Conversions & Mobility and immediately brought the van over for them to manually diconnect the kneel feature. When he was finished, Mom, Tania, Tracy and Luca went shopping at Macy's. They had to make the best of the afternoon: they always have time for shopping! Dee Comes Over To Give Tracy A Much-Needed Massage ~ This evening, Dee came over to give Tracy a much-needed massage. He has such healing hands! Tracy really enjoys his massages. He works each muscle through its full range of motion. Dad Goes To Bikram Yoga This Evening ~ Dad went to Bikram Yoga this evening. It had been a little more than a week since he had been to Yoga! Ouch! Mom, Dad, Tracy, & Luca Watch Grey's Anatomy ~ Mom, Dad, Tracy and Luca watched this week's episode of Grey's Anatomy. It is one of Tracy's favorite shows! Mom, Dad, Tracy, & Luca Watch Georgia Tech vs. Virginia Tech Football ~ Mom, Dad, Tracy and Luca watched some of the Georgia Tech vs. Virginia Tech Football Game!
